Katalin loves to paint water reflections with boats and buildings; this scene had it all. She was especially attracted to the blue boat with its rusty equipment. The framed dimensions for this painting are 22x26 inches.
Katalin has loved making art since childhood. In New York City, she attended the High School of Music and Art. She went on to art school to get a BFA at The Cooper Union in New York City, followed by a wonderful year of graduate school studying art at Villa Schifanoia in Florence, Italy, majoring in painting and earning an MA degree.
She taught Fine Arts for 31 years in public elementary schools in New York State and in Massachusetts. Bringing out the creativity of her students was a very rewarding career.
Painting is her joy, her therapy, and her passion. Since she retired from teaching in 2008, she has been indulging her life-long passion for painting. In her paintings, she hopes to capture the excitement of three-dimensional places and things on a two-dimensional surface to catch the play of light and the mood of the scene.
She exhibits her paintings at the North Shore Arts Association in Gloucester, MA, where she is a juried member, and at the Rockport Art Association, an associate member. She also exhibits with the Reading Art Association. She is a member of Boston North Artists and the Newton Watercolor Society.
