Eastern Cottonwood Study

Hand-painted Enamel, Sterling Silver, Brass, and Copper

1.5" X 1" X .75"

I use the fragility of glass enamel and study the process of decay to highlight temporal beauty in the natural world around us and also in us. We are marred and fragile like leaves that flourish for a brief season and then return to dust. And yet, there is also great beauty in every stage to be appreciated in its season.

Painted from life, this study of Eastern Cottonwood leaves is hand-painted in layers of enamel. The backs of both earrings feature a brass leaf cut-out that reveals a textured copper backplate.
