As Above, So Below

Stoneware, wire, copper, glazes

17x10x10 (in)

This work is concerned with the passage of time and the temporary nature of our environment and indeed ourselves as human beings. I sculpt with clay – a material that is both temporary and, once fired, as old as history itself. I then apply glaze and texture using materials that change over time - copper, iron, and gold. The work implies the permanence of mortality, and ask us to consider what we leave behind when we are gone.
