Inflated Dead Weight

White stoneware, slab built, bisque firing to cone 06. Acrylic paint and ribbon

10 x 9.5 x 31

  • Inflated Dead Weight is a self-portrait exploring an object that is supposed to be light and buoyant, yet is heavy and grounded. The round shape of the balloon mimics the way my stomach bulges over my belt buckle depicting constriction. The texture is chunky and craterous to resemble cellulite.
