Translucent | Opaque
Calling watercolor and gouache artists! Whether you paint en plein air, strive for realism, or construct worlds through narrative illustrations, we welcome all gouache and watercolor artists to showcase their work in our upcoming exhibition! We are looking for artists whose use of the medium invites unexpecting eyes. Do you employ fine lines or intense saturation? Does your application create drama or an illusive atmosphere? Perhaps the scale of your work allows you to explore new dimensions in your artistic journey. We want to see how you breathe life into watercolor and gouache! Arlington Center for the Arts has a long history of celebrated watercolor and gouache artists, classes, and teachers that incubate both creativity and community. This exhibit not only calls upon the artists already participating at Arlington Center for the Arts, but also invites those working in the mediums of gouache and watercolor to join us. In honor of this, work in this show will be curated by none other than ACA's beloved teaching artists, Marjorie Glick and Vicki Paret.

Submission Guidelines
There is a $30 submission fee for up to 3 pieces
Artists must be ages 16 and up.
Work submitted must use watercolor and/or gouache as the medium. No other mediums will be accepted.
Work must be ready to hang, installed, or displayed. 2D works must be on canvas or framed with a wire in the back for hanging or it will not be accepted. Specific display needs must be specified and provided by the artist.
Site-specific proposals are welcome, but there is no guarantee we can accommodate. Please reach out to cat@acarts.org if you have any questions.
There are no size restrictions beyond the height of the gallery, which is 6 feet tall. There are limited opportunities for anything taller than 6 feet (see site-specific proposals).
Due to the small size of our operations, we are unable to accept international work at this time. This show will showcase artists from the Greater Boston Area, as we are a community art center and our organization’s mission is to build community through the arts.
Artwork shown at ACA in the past year will not be accepted.
