Creative Photography: Painting With Light for iPhones with Nicole Mordecai

2 sessions  (90 min each)

June 12, 19 (Fri)   730-900 pm

The set of photography techniques known as "light painting" provides an opportunity for creating otherworldly and painterly images with our phone cameras. Session 1 will cover several techniques that rely on slow shutter speeds, including panning, painting with a point light source, and creating abstract images with moving lights. During the class, everyone will practice using the Slow Shutter Cam app. The session will end with advice on how to approach a series of creative photography challenges and how to upload your best shots for the instructor to review.

In session 2, the class will look at each students' best shots from the photo challenges assigned in Session 1. In addition to each student describing how they made each image, the instructor will demonstrate editing the submitted images in SnapSeed, a free iPhone editing app.

Between sessions, the instructor will be available during online "office hours" to answer any questions or address issues in accomplishing the challenges.
