Student choice; From a basswood cut-out, participants will create a small songbird by carving with hand tools and painting with acrylics OR carve another small object (fish, flower, relief) with hand tools.

JOINERY FOR WOODWORKERS     Steve McKenna

Maximum # of Students: 6

This class will focus on review and hands on practice for constructing select joinery
techniques as follows: bridle joint, shouldered bridle joint, mortise and tenon joint, shouldered mortise and tenon joint, wedged through mortise and tenon joint, and dovetail joint. Everyone in the class will be expected to make each one of these joints by the end of classes. Students will need to bring their own hand tools as follows: 6” steel ruler, square, sharp fine saw, sharp ½” and 1” chisels. This class is intended for
students with a working knowledge of basic furniture construction who want to improve their skills and increase their proficiency in the successful use of these joinery techniques.
*Non-guild members must get the instructor’s permission to take this class.
