About the Class or Event
This workshop begins with an informative slideshow detailing the traditional process of crafting Hanji using Mulberry bark. Participants will engage in the hands-on experience of preparing Mulberry fiber. The process involves pounding the pre-prepared fiber into a porridge-like consistency using a wooden hammer, followed by creating a glue-like substance from traditional plant materials. This substance will then be mixed with the fiber to form the base of the paper. Production Techniques: Participants will learn to shape their paper using specialized molds: round molds for envelopes and rectangular molds for postcards. This method showcases the unique and time-honored techniques involved in Hanji creation, offering attendees both practical skills and a deeper appreciation of Hanji.Â
This workshop will be held in our large and well lit Plummer Studio.
