Land Acknowledgement

Land Acknowledgment

The Lexington Arts and Crafts Society acknowledges that the land we stand on is unceded land, marshlands, and waterways, today known as Lexington, which truly belong to the indigenous nations of North America that are the Massachusett, Nipmuc, Natick, Wabinaki, and Wampanoag. We commit to the activity of influencing our local, state, and federal governments to cooperate with these and all indigenous nations of North America who are working to repair and recultivate their governance, economies, social structures, arts, and languages in ways defined by them rather than in a manner that has historically damaged these critical elements of their respective societies and nations. We also commit to learning from, including, and elevating Native Indigenous peoples’ perspectives, voices, art, and languages locally and nationally through our individual and collective missions of anti-racism, equity, and social justice work.
