Book Stack 001 is a stand-alone sculpture featuring some of the first ceramic books
for a larger body of work, known as The Stacks. The artist drew inspiration for The Stacks from the bookshelves in his South End apartment as well as from the Boston Public Library, Harvard’s Widener Library, and MassArt’s Godine Library, which is where he collected discarded books utilized to make plaster molds.
The Stacks is the newest addition to his Built to Play body of work, which highlights the importance of play throughout our entire lives.
