The top layer is one piece of fabric. Color is painted with dye where needed, then it is stitched & knotted with shibori techniques before dyeing in indigo to create the fireflies, luna & chickpea moths cavorting at Walden Pond. Hotaru ("firefly") is a shibori technique used to create its namesakes. After the past months of isolation, every gathering seems like a celebration, including teaching in person.
