Wood Carving Birds

Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced

Description: 

Want to try carving but don't want to commit to an 8 week session? Try 4 weeks.

New to carving? Carve a couple of ornaments to learn all of the steps involved in carving a bird including carving, texturing, and painting. Ornaments are carved on the front side and flat on the back.

Experienced carver? Continue working on existing projects or start new ones.

Tools, paints, and a cutout will be provided. Safe use of tools will be emphasized.

Materials: 

A $5 material kit containing a cut out of the bird, eyes, and a diagram will be provided. Students may reimburse the instructor at the start of class.

About the instructor: 

Jane Layton loves creating art from wood.  Her areas of focus are mainly bird carving and bowl turning. She often perches a bird on the rim of a bowl so she can enjoy both disciplines. Jane has won many awards for her bird carvings. Her birds are in public and private collections worldwide.
