Baby Spoons with Kylie Weinzierl

Description:

In this one day beginner workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of forming their own miniature spoon. We will go over cutting, filing, raising, sinking, riveting, and creating a textured or smooth finish. Each student will leave with a handmade copper or brass decorative spoon, or students may request silver at an additional cost by emailing the instructor at least 2 weeks before the start of the workshop.  

Prerequisites: None

Note:

-Please wear closed-toe shoes.

-As noticed above, the materials kit for this class does not include silver. If you would like to make a silver spoon during the workshop, please email kylie.weinzierl@lexart.org at least two week before the class to purchase silver for your kit.

About the instructor: Kylie Weinzierl is a Boston area interdisciplinary artist, with a primary focus in metalsmithing, a background in sound art, multimedia installation and fabrication, as well as glass work, textile, and performance. Kylie received a Bachelor of the Arts from Arizona State University in 2019, and a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in February 2024. Kylie is also the of Metals Studio Manager at LexArt.
