Description:
In this class, students will learn the art of silk painting from start to finish. First, students will learn how to make their own silk painting frame, then they will learn how to paint with dyes, and learn two different techniques. One technique is painting straight onto the fabric, and the other technique, gutta, is silk painting with dyes within the lines. The class will also learn about color, graduation, and creating texture.
Note: There will be no class on June 13th.
About the instructor:
Phyllis Wadlington is a Fiber Artist who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Kentucky. During her time at the University, she received a scholarship to Study Abroad in Italy which allowed her to visit museums and churches, furthering her knowledge of international works of art. She has shown her silk paintings and mixed media art at several different galleries in both Kentucky and Massachusetts. Phyllis is excited to live here in Massachusetts now, where she can continue pursuing her art career and incorporating her teaching expertise to share her craft. She is currently a member of The Foundry’s artist studio and teaches weekly classes in their space which are available for individuals and families of all ages.
