Course Level: Advanced Beginner, Intermediate  

Tuition: $295 (Log in for membership discount prices)


Description:  If you are looking for a class to work on skills you began developing and to learn some more advanced techniques, Explorations is the class for you! Intended for advanced beginner and intermediate students, this course is focused on building existing skills, and incorporating new ones into their personal metalsmithing practice. Students may learn some more advanced sawing techniques, more technical soldering tricks, niche tools for specific jobs, and more!


Prerequisites: At least one 6 week beginner fabrication course (Jewelry 101, Soldering 101, etc.), or at least 3 fabrication based 1-day workshops, or similar experience.


Note: 

-There will be no class on the following date: October 13th.


-Please wear closed-toe shoes.


-Copper and brass are provided. Students may choose to purchase silver or other metals they want for their individual projects through LexArt by the end of the second class. Interested students may email kylie.weinzierl@lexart.org for questions about ordering additional metals.


About the instructor: Kylie Weinzierl is a Boston area interdisciplinary artist, with a primary focus in metalsmithing, a background in sound art, multimedia installation and fabrication, as well as glass work, textile, and performance. Kylie received a Bachelor of the Arts from Arizona State University in 2019, and a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in February 2024. Kylie is the head Jewelry Instructor at Stonybrook Metal Arts & Sculpture School in Jamaica Plain, and is also the Metals Studio Manager at LexArt, and is currently enrolled in the Jewelry Making & Repair program at North Bennet Street School in Boston.
