Description: This class provides an introduction to watercolor painting. Students will work directly from observations while learning the mechanics of painting in practice. As students work on a variety of painting projects, the emphasis will be on technique, color blending, and critical theory while they expand their art vocabulary. Diverse professional painters who paint from life will be highlighted in-class lectures and conversations. In this class, water-soluble paints will be used.

About the instructor: Priya Dave is an interdisciplinary artist who works in painting, drawing, printmaking, papermaking, sculptures, video projections, and sound using various materials such as recycled papers, canvas, tissue papers, and other things depending on the artwork. Through her artwork, she aims to create an environment that maps the brain's physiological architecture, engages with the public, and helps audiences understand the brain's creative processes and the importance of Mental health as understood through Neuroscience.
