Directed Open Studio with Liz Check - Session 2

Description: Open Studio classes are great fun for students who possess basic silversmithing skills, such as those acquired in the beginner level courses offered at LexArt, including soldering, sawing, flexshaft use and sanding/finishing. The Open Studio format gives students the chance to pursue projects of their own choosing, with individualized instruction provided and questions answered by an experienced professional jeweler. Get advice on a design that you have seen elsewhere or dreamed of making. Complete work that you began a while ago and that has been sitting in a drawer.  Stretch your aspirations and abilities in the safety of an environment where you will get the help to successfully complete your projects. Liz will also add demonstrations of various techniques if the students show an interest in learning something new!

Plan to bring your own assortment of hand tools, including jeweler's saw, files and pliers, as well as your own material (sterling, copper, brass, gold).

Course level: Advanced Beginner - Intermediate

Prerequisites: Students enrolled in this class should have completed at least (1) LexArt beginner level metalsmithing class (or the equivalent), and (2) be comfortable working safely and independently between instructor consultations.

About the instructor: Liz has been jewelry artist and instructor at LexArt for many years.
