Drawing FUNdamentals 2 with Susan McFarlane

Description: 

Drawing is learning to see, communication, and creativity. It is a foundational skill for many forms of artmaking. In this class, we will learn FUNdamentals through observation, perspective, angles, shape and shading. Learn about composition, where to begin your drawing, and when to stop. See your creativity blossom as you get more comfortable and confident in expressing your ideas through drawing. Begin a new skill, refresh an old one, or just practice with other creatives. Ready, set, draw!

New students are welcome. For returning students: We will revisit the concepts presented in Drawing FUNdamentals 1 in more detail with subject matter scaled for experience level.

Materials: 

Students should bring the following supplies:

• Drawing paper (at least 9 x 12)
• Pencils (2HB, 2H, 4B minimum)
• Kneaded eraser
• Vinyl eraser
• Newsprint
• Vine charcoal
• White chalk pencil   Optional: Drawing board with clips

About the instructor:

Susan is orgininally from Massachusetts but for thirty years she lived in Utah, Oregon, New Jersey, and Virginia before moving to Reading, MA. Susan earned a B.S. in Design from Brigham Young University, a Post Baccalaureate Certificate from Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and a Museum Studies Master’s Degree from Harvard Extension. In addition, she is a Certified Zentagle® Teacher. Her artwork has been shown in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.
