Notes from the Instructors:

"We created this class to share the joy and creative freedom that painting can offer. Oil painting can seem intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be—we break it down into approachable fundamentals to help you build confidence and enjoy the process. Our goal is for you to leave feeling inspired, capable, and excited to keep creating. We hope you’ll come paint with us!" - Brendan & Daisy

Brendan Lehman (b. 1997) is an oil painter, illustrator, and designer based in Boston, MA. He is also the founder of Aspire Art Panels and Liquid Box Design.

Brendan's artistic journey began with drawing cartoons in grade school and was reignited in high school through street art and comic illustrations, leading him to pursue his love for art in the creative industry after two years of formal education at Lesley University and Tufts SMFA.

Combining layers of spontaneous brushstrokes and dynamic textures, Brendan's work showcases provocative figures and faces that challenge the boundaries of conventional oil painting. Through this approach, he explores the human form—both anatomical and psychological—expressing themes of internal energy, spirit, and vulnerability. Striking a balance between intuition and intention, visceral imagery emerges where chaos and clarity coexist.

Daisy Hernandez is a multidisciplinary artist from New Jersey. She’s been painting for over 12 years, ever since discovering a love for textures and brushstrokes back in middle school. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a deep passion for visual storytelling and creative expression.

Her work blends imagination with real-world issues, especially focusing on human and animal crises happening around the world. Daisy uses painting as a way to process and bring attention to these topics, creating visuals that spark curiosity, emotion, and conversation. She believes color and canvas size aren’t just technical choices—they’re tools to express mood and energy.

To fuel her imaginative thinking, Daisy also works as an illustrator and animator. Her illustration style leans funky, quirky, and playful—filled with character design, comics, children’s book art, and wacky, offbeat animations. Whether sketching with a pencil or working digitally, she loves adding humor and whimsy into her storytelling, giving each piece a sense of fun and personality.

She works in a range of styles including impressionism, abstraction, impasto, and surrealism, but oil painting is where she feels most at home. The way oil paints can be layered, blended, and textured allows her to push the boundaries of light, depth, and emotion in her work.
