Description: All skill levels welcome! Learn to cut traditional joineries with hand tools, making a tool tote. This class introduces all necessary hand tools, including squares, saws, chisels, and planes. With basic tools, you will learn how to cut dovetail joints, mortise-and-tenon joints and rabbiting joints, three most common joints for vast majority of your joinery need. We will also cover how to work ergonomically on sawhorses or low benches, so that you will be able to use hand tools with no workbench without sacrificing efficiency. All the tools we need fit in the small tool tote, and thus is a system that is not only space and material efficient, but also portable and economical.

About the instructor: Luke Lyu grew up in China and is a student of Master Lu Ban. Taking a great interest in traditional woodworking, he graduated the Mortise and Tenon Apprenticeship (of Sedgwick, ME) with Journeyman's Award. Living in Lexington with his wife and family, he now produces fine woodworking hand tools through his company Zen-Wu Toolworks.
