Join us for a hands-on introduction to fine woodworking through the timeless craft of box making. This beginner-friendly class is designed for anyone looking to build foundational skills while creating a beautiful and functional project.
You’ll learn to safely and confidently use both woodworking machines and essential hand tools. From table saws and routers to handplanes, shooting boards, chisels, and card scrapers, you’ll explore the complementary skills that define fine woodworking. Students will learn not just how to shape wood efficiently with machines, but also how to refine, fit, and finish with precision by hand.
Through the process of designing and building your own box, you’ll develop core woodworking techniques including accurate stock preparation, joinery, assembly, and surface refinement.
By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a finished box, a strong foundation in both machine and hand tool woodworking, and the confidence to continue your woodworking journey.
