6 Wednesdays, 1:00 PM- 4:00 PM

Course Level:  Advanced Beginner

Tuition: $270 (Log in for membership discount prices)

Materials Fee: $25 

Description:  Increase your confidence by expanding your jewelry knowledge beyond the basics.  Learn tips and tricks on finishing, such as using the flexible shaft with specialized abrasives, and polishing wheels to get a better finish on your jewelry.  Learn to do some chainmaking, forging, foldforming and much more.  Students will have their individual projects to work on. Experienced students, and students from Jewelry 1, will find this class helpful as they can work on upgrading their skills.

Note: 

-There will be no class on November 22nd. 

-A material fee of $25 must be paid directly to the instructor on the first day of class.

-Silver can be purchased directly from the instructor as needed. 

Prerequisites:  Must have basic jewelrymaking skills or have taken Jewelry 1.  

About the instructor: Joy Raskin, a NH native, calls herself a New Englander. In 1984, Joy took jewelrymaking in high school, thus starting her metalsmithing career and was one of the youngest craftspeople to be accepted into the League of NH Craftsmen in 1986.   After completing a BFA from RISD and a MFA from UMassDartmouth, focusing on flatware, earning the nickname Spoon Lady since flatware is her forte.   Since 1996, she has been teaching jewelrymaking/metalsmithing locally and all over NH, MA and CT. She has grown into a creative metalsmith, being able to translate clients’ ideas into wearable jewelry and functional silverware /tableware.   Her work is a mixture of jewelry and functional tableware, such as flatware, serving utensils, candlestick holders, small metal bowls and more. She works primality in silver, gold, steel and some brass, bronze and copper, plus gemstones.
