Finding and capturing artistic inspiration with Thea Breite

Description:  Beauty may surround us, but often hides in unlikely places such as rusty sinks, filthy ponds or cracked concrete. Using your smart phones, you will learn how to find and capture the hidden, the unexpected, and the provocative in this exciting new LexArt class taught by award-winning photo editor Thea Breite.

This class is open to everyone from self-described “non-artists” who just enjoy snapping interesting images with their cell phones to committed artists constantly on the prowl for visual inspiration to spark their next work in paint, metal, wood or any other medium.

You’ll learn to look until you see:  opening your mind and awareness to visual opportunities you pass by every day -  in your home, outside your door and around your block.

Materials: Bring a smartphone.

About the instructor: Thea Breite is a fine art photographer and found wood artist. She began her photography career as a newspaper photographer and then held various visual management positions at newspapers across the country. Breite was a photo editor and multimedia editor at The Boston Globe for 15 years.  While at the Globe, Breite led a talented group of videographers and photographers who won 14 New England Emmy awards during her tenure. She also directed video coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings, which were part of the Globe's winning entry for the Pulitzer Prize for breaking news.
