Course Level: Beginner

Description:

This beginner-level workshop covers many basics of jewelry fabrication including soldering, stamping, and forming a ring. Students will learn how to cut metal, size a band ring, add textural embellishments, and a variety of different metal finishing techniques. We will begin by practicing these techniques with a sample copper band, and finish by making our final rings in sterling silver. All materials are included in the cost of this workshop.


This class is specifically designed to accommodate and welcome people with a range of neurodiversities including ASD, ADHD, and other types of thinking across the spectrum. The Molesky Series is also designed to accommodate and welcome individuals with physical disabilities, and individuals seeking a small, judgment-free learning environment.

About the instructor: Kylie Weinzierl is a Boston area interdisciplinary artist, with a primary focus in metalsmithing, a background in sound art, multimedia installation and fabrication, as well as glass work, textile, and performance. Kylie received a Bachelor of the Arts from Arizona State University in 2019, and a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in February 2024. Kylie is the head Jewelry Instructor at Stonybrook Metal Arts & Sculpture School in Jamaica Plain, and is the Metals Studio Manager at LexArt.
