Mug Rugs and Magic Carpets: Cross Generational Mug Rug Workshop with Krysten Morganti

Description: 

Spend an afternoon learning a new skill and leave with some holiday gifts ready to wrap! Whether you use them for your favorite beverages or as magic carpets for stuffed animals, mug rugs are a great way to play around with color and texture while learning the basics of weaving. We will be using looms to make pieces that will be finished on a sewing machine during our session and ready to bring home at the end of the day.  Bring some bits and bobs of yarn if you have them, or choose from our ample supplies to personalize your projects.

Note:

-This class is suitable for elementary and middle school children, but pairs with children should have a supervising adult on the team, or in the class.

-Each registration for this class reserves one loom per team. Teams with multiple children might want to consider purchasing multiple tickets, so each child can have his or her own loom to work on. 

-The LexArt office is closed for federal holidays, but this does not impact the class.

About the instructor: 

Krysten Morganti loves weaving and spinning with every color there is and especially enjoys the challenge of working with reclaimed materials.

She works with vintage and antique looms and spinning wheels that she restores to working condition in her barn in Concord, Massachusetts.

Krysten is a compulsive teacher and lifelong learner, and may be responsible for getting hundreds of folks hooked on weaving and spinning.
