Description: Open Studio classes are fun for students with basic silversmithing skills, including: soldering, sawing, flexshaft use, and sanding/finishing. The Open Studio format allows students to pursue projects of their own choosing, with individualized instruction and questions answered by an experienced professional jeweler. Get advice on a design that you have seen elsewhere or dreamed of making. Complete work that you began a while ago and that has been sitting in a drawer.  Stretch your aspirations and abilities in the safety of an environment where you will get the help to successfully complete your projects. Liz will also  demonstrate various techniques if the students want to learn something new!
Plan to bring your own assortment of hand tools, including: jeweler's saw, files and pliers, as well as your own material (sterling, copper, brass, gold).
Prerequisites: Students enrolled in this class should have completed at least one Direct Instruction Beginner level class in Metalsmithing techniques AND possess basic silversmithing skills in the following areas: soldering, sawing, flexshaft use and sanding/finishing. Students must also be able to work safely and independently between instructor consultations.
Additional notes:
This class is for adults.
About the instructor: Liz Check is a jewelry artist and has been an instructor at LexArt for many years.
