Description:

In this course we will go over the steps getting a high polish on a piece of jewelry. Working on primarily prefabricated pieces, we will learn about different abrasives and kinds of finishes achievable with jewelry, tips and tricks to minimizing work needed for a high shine, proper polishing techniques, and how to achieve the most beautiful shine.


Prerequisite: At least one jewelry making class or equivalent experience


Note:

  • Materials are included in the class tuition. The instructor will also have extra materials available for purchase.

  • Students must wear closed toes shoes in the Metals Studio.


About the instructor: Kylie Weinzierl is a Boston area interdisciplinary artist, with a primary focus in metalsmithing, a background in sound art, multimedia installation and fabrication, as well as glass work, textile, and performance. Kylie received a Bachelor of the Arts from Arizona State University in 2019, and a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in February 2024. Kylie is the Metals Studio Manager at LexArt, and is currently enrolled in the Jewelry Making & Repair program at North Bennet Street School in Boston.
