Description

In this brand new class students will be introduced to a variety of printmaking techniques including rubber block carving, creating "collagraph" printing plates from textured materials, and developing "trace monotypes". We will explore positive and negative space, texture, designing without mid-tones, safety when carving, and different uses of "multiples". Each class will involve an explanation of new techniques, time to work on creating the different blocks, and of course, making prints.

Materials

A $25 materials kit containing all the materials needed for the class will be provided (payable directly to the instructor at the beginning of the class).

About the instructor:

Anne Nydam is a Needham resident whose relief block prints have illustrated many books and magazines, as well as being in private collections from New England to Japan.  She taught middle school art for ten years, and continues to teach printmaking workshops and summer classes, as well as exhibiting her block prints at numerous shows in the area throughout the year.
