Description

Join us for an interactive class making a beautiful layered petal pin (or pendant). We will begin with conditioning of clay, blending colors and making a bullseye cane. Then we will bump it up a notch or two by adding accents and more wraps. We will also have the opportunity to view each other's work and get new ideas. You will leave this class with all the basic techniques to continue your polymer journey.

Note

-Several colors of Sculpy Premo Clay will be provided (black, white,  and three other colors). However, if you have your heart set on using a specific color, you can bring your own Sculpy Premo as well.

-Basic tools are provided including the use of a pasta machine, cutting mat, cutting blade, poker tool and our baking ovens. You will receive a pin back as well. Feel free to bring your supplies too in case your creativity explodes!

About the instructor:

Laurie Lloyd: Professionally I work as a Sr. Quality Director for a growing Pharmaceutical company. My education is in Medical Technology with a certification as a Specialist in Blood Banking.  As you may imagine, this profession requires attention to detail and compliance with strict regulations.  I realized my life was becoming a bit too “black and white." I started playing with color again through scrapbooking and then stamping. When visiting Lexington Arts and Crafts I saw incredible colorful work made by members of the Polymer Clay Guild. I took 2 introductory polymer clay classes at LexArt. I came home that night and pulled out the pasta machine from the basement and the game was on!

I found a wonderful outlet for some creativity that was starting to re-emerge! Joining LexArt in July 2010 was a new and interesting path. Those I met that worked with polymer were such wonderful people, open to sharing, and very energetic.  All were happy to teach a new trick or technique and I soon learned there were no limits to what could be created.  I started by making floral beads and slimline floral pens. My range of creations has expanded through the challenging themes of our gallery shows and participating in the Holiday Market Place. I decided to be an instructor in 2012 and have enjoyed every class immensely. I love creating and sharing the “WOW” moment when students see what they have made. We all learn new things together and have a great time!
