Description

Give yourself the gift of some creative time as you sit down at a prepared loom and weave a bag to give a personalized touch to that special small gift you want to give a loved one. The bag is the perfect size for a gift card, a small jewelry item, a small box of chocolates - or anything else you can think of. The bag itself is reusable and re-giftable. The inlay technique used is simple and easy to learn. The class will be taught using rigid heddle looms.

You can use a chart for your heart motif - either from the ones the instructor has, or bring your own (do an image search for “graphed heart design” - just remember that the more complicated the pattern, the longer it will take to weave).  Or you can do a freeform heart, like on the white bag in the middle.

A mixture of wool yarns and metallic yarns will be available for your heart. If you have a special yarn you would like to use for your heart, bring it along - you only need two yards or so (fingering weight works best). When you register for the class, please specify whether you would like a loom set up for you with a red background or a white background.

Materials

A $25 materials fee must be paid directly to the instructor at the beginning of the class.

About the instructor:

Maria has been weaving on and off for over thirty years, but her love affair with fiber began long before then. She has studied and worked in a broad variety of floor loom weave structures, but her true passion is - and always has been - tapestry weaving. Most recently, she has taken to using a rigid heddle loom for her weaving because she is intrigued by how the simplicity of the loom unleashes new dimensions in creativity. Drawn to all things timeless and enduring, Maria is also a high school Latin teacher.

Please take a look at our registration policy and our current covid policy before your class.
