Monday Evening Directed Open Studio with Laurie Savage

7 Mondays, 6:00 - 9:00 pm

Begins January 10, In Studio

Class: $340 (Includes a $25 Studio Fee)

Description: This class is appropriate for students with intermediate and above-level skills and experience. Bring your ideas of what you would like to create to this hands-on class. You will spend one-on-one time with Laurie as she helps you advance your skills while you navigate from an idea to completion.   

Note: This class DOES NOT meet weekly.  The 7 sessions will be held on the following Monday evenings from 6-9pm:

1/10; 1/24; 1/31; 2/28; 3/14; 3/21; and 3/28.          

Students should bring a basic assortment of hand tools (jeweler's saw/blades, pliers, files and  visors) and the metal/material they plan to use.

Course level: Intermediate

Prerequisites: Participants must have intermediate level metalsmithing skills in soldering, sawing, sanding/finishing, polishing and flexshaft use and be able to work safely with basic shop tools and equipment. They must also be able to work independently on individual projects between instructor consultations.

About the instructor: Laurie Savage received a BFA in metalsmithing from MassArt in 1998. She has taught the jewelry program at Cambridge Center for Adult Education since 1999, and metalsmithing workshops at Haystack, the DeCordova Museum School, Motherbrook Arts Community, Arlington Community Education and LEXArt. She maintains a studio in the Distillery Building in South Boston, and her work is available by commission.
