Description:
This class is ideal for beginner metals students who want a "study-hall" type set-up to practice their metal smithing skills with the assistance of an instructor. It is recommended to take at least one metals class before taking Foundations of Small Metals, as the curriculum is very loose and will focus on refining foundational skills.
Note:
-There will be no class November 2nd.
-Materials included in class cost. Any students wanting to work in silver must purchase on their own. Instructor can help with suggestions on first day of classes.
About the instructor: Kylie Weinzierl is a Boston area interdisciplinary artist, with a primary focus in metalsmithing, a background in sound art, multimedia installation and fabrication, as well as glass work, textile, and performance. Kylie received a Bachelor of the Arts from Arizona State University in 2019, and a Master of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in February 2024. Kylie is the head Jewelry Instructor at Stonybrook Metal Arts & Sculpture School in Jamaica Plain, the Metals Studio Manager at LexArt, and is currently enrolled in the Jewelry Making & Repair program at North Bennet Street School in Boston.
