Description:
Want to sew? Sewing Salon is just what the doctor ordered. Come in and use our sewing machines and tools. Receive sewing machine orientation, sewing help, and advice. We have all the tools necessary – fully loaded heavy-duty mechanical sewing machines, sewing shears, irons, ironing boards, and many sewing notions. You bring your ideas and materials. We’ll get your project off the ground and flying in no time.
Some scrap fabric is available for experimentation. Come in and brush up your skills or learn something new.
For this class we encourage you to bring in your own sewing machine if you have one, and we can get you up and running with that equipment. Please also bring all power chords, manuals, and supplies provided with your machine.
Some topics covered include:
- Sewing machine how-to
- Common stitches
- Maintain seam allowance
- Sewing straight lines
- Backstitching
- Changing machine settings
- Use of sewing machine feet
- Proper cutting techniques
- Accurate measure and marking
- Pattern Reading
- "Faux" serging and cover stitch instruction on our regular heavy-duty sewing machines
Prerequisites:
Some sewing machine skills helpful. If an absolute beginner with no machine experience, the Introduction to the Sewing Machine class is a more appropriate choice.
Please contact the instructor with any questions about materials, or any other matter.
