As a charitable nonprofit organization, all LexArt’s programs are open to the public.  Many of our programs are free; others require registration and payment of fees.
Here's how you may choose to engage with LexArt.

EXHIBITS

LexArt offers a rotating series of exhibits of art and craft in our recently renovated Molly Harding Nye Gallery. These exhibits feature work of LexArt member artists, open-call juried shows, invitationals and special events hosted in partnership with other cultural nonprofit organizations such as the New England Sculptors Association, the Korean Cultural Society of Boston, and Refugee Artisans of Worcester.  These exhibits are always free to visit, and most items displayed are typically offered for sale.  For information on how to participate in exhibits as an artist, please see MEMBERSHIP.

GALLERY GIFT SHOP & MARKETPLACES

LexArt operates a Gift Shop in the Nye Gallery, stocked with a rotating, curated selection of art and craft items produced by LexArt members. Larger sales events include our annual Holiday Marketplace (late November to Christmas), and periodic one-day and weekend sales events throughout the year.  All sales events are free to visit.  LexArt members enjoy a 10% discount on purchases.  For information on how to participate in sales as an artist, please see MEMBERSHIP.

EDUCATION

LexArt offers instruction in a wide variety of mediums from introductory level to master classes.  Free demonstrations and lectures are offered, frequently in connection with exhibits in the Nye Gallery.  Scheduled classes typically meet weekly for 4-10 sessions and are the best way to develop or refine skills.  One or two-session workshops provide an opportunity to sample a new medium or technique or take a deep-dive with a master instructor.  See schedule.  All classes and workshops require advanced registrations and are fee-based.  LexArt members enjoy a 10% discount on tuition fees. Scholarships are available; please contact us for more info.

SHOP SPACES & ARTIST GROUPS

LexArt is a community of artists and makers. We foster curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, as we practice and pass-on traditional methods of craft and explore new technologies. We operate shared, cooperative studio spaces available to everyone.  Artists may register to use LexArt’s facilities and participate in artist groups based around the medium(s) of their choice.  Registration is available on a quarterly or annual basis, with a 20% discount available for annual purchase. One need not be a member to register for studio use, but members sustain LexArt financially and enjoy exhibition, sales, and other benefits.

We have four equipped shops dedicated to Ceramics, Weaving & Fiber Arts, Metalworking and Polymer Clay & Beading, and Woodworking, plus an equipped Painting studio and a multi-purpose studio. Shops and studios function as makers’ spaces, classrooms, and meeting rooms.  Anyone who registers with one of these groups enjoys use of the dedicated studio space (subject to safety and proficiency requirements) and access to the other equipped shop and studio spaces under supervised open studio conditions.  Note:  Beginners may need to take one or more classes before they may register for studio access.

There are also three other studio groups--Decorative Arts, Needle Arts, and Photography--that do not have dedicated workspace, but meet regularly and have access to LexArt classrooms, meeting rooms and all other shop and studio spaces under supervised open studio conditions.

For more information, visit Studio Use Registration.
